The Indian film industry will celebrate 100 years of its existence in 2013. Celebrities are excited and say that the progress and growth of the cinema within the last 10 decades was outstanding.
On May 3 1913, India’s first full-length feature film “Raja Harishchandra” was first shown in public. Even though it was a silent film, it marked the appearance of the Indian film industry.
Here is what a few of film fraternity members need to say in regards to the centenary celebration:
Anu Malik: This is a very special day. Not only for the Hindi film industry but for the regional industry in addition – for the Marathi cinema, Gujarati and Bengali cinema. I BELIEVE the type of progress our entire Indian cinema has done is exceptional. Today, we're on par with Hollywood.
Dia Mirza: There's a certain aestheticism that has come into the Indian cinema that may be worthy of applause. I'VE just done a Bengali film and that i was exposed to lots more Bengali films. I'VE realised that we have a tendency to live in a pigeon hole perspective. There may be much more to Indian cinema than the Hindi films.
Anurag Basu: I'M a small a part of this journey, but I'M a part of it. It’s an overly happy occasion but we need to cross many milestones in future.
Juhi Chawla: The industry has given me greater than what I dreamt of and for those who persons are in front of me and being attentive to me, then this is because of this industry and i'm eternally grateful.
Dhanush: I'M really glad that i'm also a tiny a part of the cinema. I wish I WILL BE ABLE TO learn more and contribute more to Indian cinema. – IANS
