Grand welcome for SRKs team in Kolkata

The City of Joy- Kolkata erupted with joy this morning as its team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) returned home as Champions of IPL 2012. Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee had special plans lined up for King Khan and his Knights to felicitate them for his or her stupendous victory.

The players from KKR took an open bus ride from South Kolkata's Hazra area all of the approach to Eden Gardens with nearly 50000 people at the streets cheering them within the 6 km distance. However some fans of Shah Rukh Khan were disappointed that the actor didn't join the team bus for the parade.

The team first stopped at Writer's Building where KKR team owner Shah Rukh Khan was present and along side captain Gautam Gambhir presented the IPL trophy to Mamata didi.

The next stop was the Eden Gardens stadium where nearly 1 lakh screaming fans were eagerly awaiting their heroes. Thousands of individuals were still scrambling to get inside leading to a stampede of varieties outside the stadium. Shah Rukh Khan walked in together with co-owners Juhi Chawla, Jai Mehta and players from KKR. They were greeted by popular Bangla band Chandrabindu which belted out Bangla hit songs. Also joining within the frenzy were Bengali superstars Jeet, Rituparna Sengupta and Dev. Mamata Banerjee said that she was pleased with KKR's epic victory while SRK and Juhi thanked Mamata didi for the royal welcome. SRK, who's also the logo ambassador of West Bengal, said that they were glad that his team could win the IPL and provides joy to the folk of Bengal. The players and other staff of KKR were felicitated with a purple coloured shawl, and gold chains which had 'Bengal loves you' inscribed on it. Later an enormous San-cake (cake manufactured from traditional Bengali sweet Sandesh) was cut by captain Gambhir together with SRK and Mamata didi.

King Khan in his trademark style then began an impromptu dance and shortly had co-owner and buddy Juhi Chawla for company. The KKR players also joined within the mad celebrations as Khan taught them a step or two.

The team then took a victory lap across the stadium showing off their prized possession- the 2012 IPL trophy. Clearly this was one unforgettable moment for individuals of Kolkata and KKR fans world over.
