HC stays sale of land to Subhash Ghai

It certainly looks like the showman of Bollywood Subhash Ghai has run into trouble when it concerns acquiring land for any of his projects. Post all the fracas with the land owned by Whistling Woods, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday stayed the sale of 20 acres of land to Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts from the Gram Panchayat of a village in Jhajjar district of Haryana.

The explanation for the HC staying the sale of the said land came following a petition filed by a 70-years-old retired teacher, Nafe Singh of Badhsa village in Jhajjar district of Haryana. The petition alleged favoritism by the Haryana government in granting permission to sell village common land to Ghai. A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Alok Singh issued notices to Ghai, the state government and Jhajjar DC.

The bench has since asked them to file their replies by July 31.
