It's a known undeniable fact that Aamir Khan skips a number of the award functions in India. That's why the inside track of Aamir Khan agreeing to wait the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards came as a surprise. Aamir, on his part, had reportedly agreed to unveil the wax statue of Dadasaheb Phalke and attend on the function for just about half an hour. But on D-day Aamir was simply absent from the development! And that's the reason when Amitabh Bachchan came to rescue and unveiled Phalke's statue.
News reports have it that Aamir, who was purported to arrive on the event, chose to cancel it on the last moment, which eventually put the organizers in a large fix. Not knowing what to do, they then approached Big B on the last moment. Big B graciously agreed to do the revealing at this kind of short notice. The organizers of the event, who confirmed the same, said that Aamir was speculated to come but backed out on the last moment, stating that he had some last minute dubbing to do as a result of which he couldn't come.
On the opposite hand, a spokesperson from Aamir's office refuted the said claims by stating that Aamir didn't confirm his presence on the event, and hence, there is not any question of him skipping the event.
