Renowned cinematographer Ashok Mehta, whose cinematic expertise may also be seen in films like Bandit Queen, Mandi, 36 Chowringhee Lane, Utsav, Ram Lakhan, Khalnaayak, Kisna, Gaja Gamini and lots of more, was admitted at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

His illness came to the fore in the course of the recording of Raveena Tandon's new chat show Issi Ka Naam Zindagi Hai. The said show had a segment that featured Mehta speaking on a video monitor about his discovery Arjun Rampal, whom he had cast in his directorial debut Moksha.

Commenting on Ashok's condition, a restrained Arjun said that he's acutely aware of Ashok's condition and considers him to be a father-figure. Arjun also added that he feels that Ashok desired to keep mum about his illness.

Bollywood Hungama wishes Ashok Mehta an overly speedy recovery.
