Arjun Kapoor bags 2 States

Riding high after the success of his debut film Ishaqzaade, newbie Arjun Kapoor has bagged the coveted role of the lead actor in Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States. The deal came about on Monday night.

2 States is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's best selling book with the similar name. Sajid Nadiadwala had initially planned to make the film with Shah Rukh Khan, which was to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Then there have been talks of Imtiaz Ali directing the film with Ranbir within the lead but that too didn't figure out. Then Imran Khan was finalized for the role but he needed to opt out because of date issues as he was tied up with multiple projects. Now Arjun Kapoor has bagged the role and he has already signed the dotted line. The leading lady is yet to be finalised

2 States could be directed by debutante Abhishek Verman, the son of veteran art director R Verman. Abhishek may be the creative director of KJo's Student Of The Year and has also worked with Karan on My Name Is Khan.

Arjun will play a normal Punjabi boy from Delhi who falls with a south Indian girl. The film will go on floors by the tip of the year and can be shot in Delhi.
