Sajid Khan is having the last laugh! His third outing, HOUSEFULL 2, has passed the general public scrutiny with distinction marks [Rs 43.5 cr opening weekend], despite scathing criticism by a piece of the media. One would expect Sajid to begin work on HOUSEFULL 3, however the director is in no hurry to begin the third installment of the successful franchise. Instead, he has started work on HIMMATWALA.
HIMMATWALA, starring Jeetendra and Sridevi, revived the rage of remaking South hits. And 3 decades later, Sajid is prepared to remake the smash hit with Ajay Devgn essaying the principal role. "Would you suspect it, I had watched the Jeetendra hit 36 times, when it opened within the 1980s. I USED TO BE enthralled by that film. I'M maintaining the essence of the film, but re-writing it completely," Sajid divulges. Vashu Bhagnani is producing the remake, that's also titled HIMMATWALA. Meanwhile, Prakash Raj, who played the antagonist in SINGHAM, has also been roped in for a pivotal part within the remake. The leading lady? "STAY UP FOR three weeks. We will be able to announce the name soon," Sajid reveals.
Sajid plans to finish HIMMATWALA before the year involves a detailed. And, hopefully, he'll start HOUSEFULL 3 thereafter. Right now, he's enjoying the success of HOUSEFULL 2. "I knew it might do well, but I NEEDED it to work big time for Akshay. He deserves it," Sajid smiles.
