Shahids role in Bejoys film inspired by Jack Nicholson

Anything for a pal. That's Shahid Kapoor for you. And his friends too believe in standing by the actor, rock-steady. At a time when after the debacle of Teri Meri Kahaani, the super-talented Shahid is seeking new challenges, his ally and shut confidante Mubina Rattonsey has decided to supply Shahid's next film. Mubina, it should be remembered, had co-produced Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey which was a turning point in Shahid's career.

The same may be true of Kapoor-Rattonsey team's next collaboration.

Bejoy Nambiar, the director of the highly-acclaimed Shaitaan is ready to explore the dark side of human nature in all places again, this time with Shahid Kapoor as his main protagonist.

Though the concerned parties are keeping mum over the character of the project, the yet-untitled film which starts shooting this December, features Shahid as a con-man who winds up in a mental asylum.

Says a source, "Shahid's role has distinct elements of Jack Nicholson's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, though it is not a remake of that Oscar-winning classic. But it is a role that showcases Shahid's talent to be the easiest entertainer. He sings, dances, clowns around and likewise gets deadly serious. Let's just say, it's Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest combined with Rajesh Khanna in B R Chopra's Ittefaq."
