After spending with regards to two years within the making of Agent Vinod and seeing just one released film in the intervening time period - Aarakshan - Saif Ali Khan has moved on. While he's giving finishing touches to Cocktail, he has already wrapped up quite a lot of portions of Race 2. Also with Judwaa 2 is at the anvil, he's just about on a signing spree of sorts, what with a minimum of three new films ready to kick-start. With over half a dozen films in his kitty, Saif is outwardly compensating for the time spent within the making of Agent Vinod.
"Yes these are exciting times and there are a variety of interesting films that I'D be kick-starting soon", confirms Saif, "Race 2 is popping out well and with Abbas-Mustan on the helm of affairs, will probably be a classy and fun affair. Then there's Judwaa 2 that's going to be quite a challenge because it gets me into an altogether different zone in comparison to a couple of the movies that I'VE done within the recent past. However, after letting my hair down in 'Pungi' (Agent Vinod), I'M confident that the audience can be accepting a distinct side of me."
The other film within the pipeline is an adaptation of a French comic book which can have director Anurag Basu calling the shots. Saif could also be waiting for kick-start another film where he can be playing a Bhopali detective. Along with these three films, he's also ready to begin a love story with Saket Chaudhary, the main points of which can be currently under wraps.
With plenty of assignments within the pipeline, Saif recently ensured that whatever little time that was available to him through the promotion of Agent Vinod was utilized for the pending shoot of Cocktail. If truth be told he shot for the film in Delhi when he was within the city for a promotional tour of Agent Vinod.
"Yes, we planned it out quite well. I ASSUME that is the smartest thing about producing two films", smiles Saif, "We were in Delhi promoting Agent Vinod after which decided to multitask by also shooting for Cocktail. Honestly though, if I USED TO BE just an actor at the two films, I MIGHT have kept the promotion and acting dates aside. However as a producer, the desire of the hour was to stretch and best utilize the time."
On a parting note, one is tempted to quiz him about his mindset post the discharge of Agent Vinod. After all, it was nothing lower than a dream project for him.
"Well, to be honest I DID NOT really take a look at Agent Vinod as a dream or anything", Saif says with a straight face, "It was a movie which came with a large number of intellectual ideas. I WISHED to bring a brand new facet of the actor in me which has played various comic and romantic characters previously. The speculation was to play a hero of a unique kind and bring a top quality product. That is the more or less offering I NEEDED to come back with."
With a half a dozen more offerings within the pipeline, you can well expect to listen to much more about Saif in time to come.
