The shoot of Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola starring Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma, in Punjab, was suffering from the cyclone that hit the state. The force of the cyclone was so strong that it caused a 20 feet light tower to damage and fall at the outdoor shoot which injured 5 unit members who were nearby.
The shoot was happening at the fields and thanks to the heavy rains and storm; the roads were blocked with fallen trees. The placement was so bad that the opposite unit members carried the injured at the shoulders to safe place from where the ambulance took them to the hospital. Thankfully, neither Imran nor Anushka were hurt within the incidents.
The three injured light boys were operated on late last night and two surgeries were done today morning. The condition of the injured unit members is being monitored closely, while the shoot have been stopped for the instant.
Says director Vishal Bhardwaj, “My unit and that i are extremely distressed by last night's cyclone. Our only heartfelt concern is for our colleagues who were hurt badly at the set.” While Fox Star studios India CEO, Vijay Singh adds, “The incident is most unfortunate. Damage to the equipment, though heavy, is replicable, but our deep concern is for our injured unit members.”
The unit members who've finished 90 percent of the film with just over 14 days work remaining will start the shoot once the operations are successfully over.
