Filmmaker Kabir Khan says Salman Khan’s presence in “Ek Tha Tiger” will usher in the initial footfalls, however the film’s content and direction will sustain it thereafter.
“I feel the film has stamina to run for a long time. I'M HOPING the film goes way beyond the outlet that is depending on Salman. After that it's me and the film that I'VE made. I THINK it has the strength to move a protracted way,” Kabir told IANS.
“Ek Tha Tiger”, releasing Aug 15, is his third directorial venture after “Kabul Express” and “New York”. The movie, by which Salman plays a spy, also features his former lady love Katrina Kaif, making it one of the vital much-awaited films of the year.
The first look of the film was also widely appreciated. The excitement has led several multiplexes to benefit from its popularity by reportedly hiking ticket prices 10-15 percent.
But there’s little that the director can do.
“That isn't something that I WILL dictate to the multiplexes. They've said this is a standard practice they follow. After they feel a movie is much-anticipated and is running during a vacation period or a festive period, they generally tend to mark up the price,” Kabir said.
“Apparently, a while back (ticket) prices were brought down, so the 15 percent mark up is simply bringing it back to what it was three to four months back.
“So I don’t think it's pumped up up to it was done for some films a few years back.” – IANS
