One of Indian cinema's most distinguished cinematographers have been inducted into the distinguished American Society Of Cinematographers (ASC).
The ASC is a company whose members are all cinematographers from the world over. Santosh Sivan is the primary South-Asian cinematographer to be thus honoured. The ASC has only 340 members.
Reacting to the honour, Sivan said, "I SUPPOSE I've to thank all my directors. This implies something special cause the visual language is a universal one, so I ASSUME being invited by accomplished visual artists is special. The ASC has very limited visual artists who belong to at least one of the oldest society on the earth. I USED TO BE invited by Michael Chapman who was the cinematographer for Martin Scorcese's Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and so forth. So yeah, it is a good feeling."
