Much was mentioned the impending Vikram Bhatt film Hate Story starring Gulshan Devaiah, Nikhil Dwivedi and Bengali actress Paoli Dam, for its greater than bold visuals and dialogues. However, it's this same inihibitedness that resulted in the Calcutta High Court upholding the state censor board's diktat to hide the posters revealing Paoli's bare back.
Prior to this verdict, the West Bengal Board of Censorship had ordered the film's regional distributors to not display the posters on Kolkata streets, even supposing there has been no opposition from other state censor boards.
Apparently, the state government has ordered that the actor's bare back be painted blue, while two of the opposite posters of the film, the only with Dam's back and another where she is in "a compromising position", was banned.
