Bittoo Boss tryst with Censor board was in news for all of the wrong reasons ever since its First Look promo in addition to song 'Bittoo Sab Li Lega' were banned by the authorities. Just when one thought that the worries would continue for plenty of more days to come, the makers has been pleasantly surprised with change in guidelines which were introduced only for them. Though the norm is to fit a movie into 'A', 'U/A' or 'U' rating, introduction of 'Parental Guidance' has only helped its cause.
"Going by the theme and treatment of the film, many worried if the film would ultimately finally end up getting an 'A' certificate. While 'U' was out of question, even 'U/A' might have been possible only with certain cuts. Argument of the Censor board was that the film wasn't meant for the children. The discussions ensued and that is when it was recommended that 'Parental Guidance' may well be introduced that may keep both parties happy", informs a source.
This is in step with films coming from the West where separate rating systems are administered for various more or less films, unlike India where there are only three basic available slots. Which means Bittoo Boss would now lie somewhere between 'U/A' and 'A', hence gaining from a fourth slot.
The source continues, "While kids can still watch a movie with their parents or guardians, as is anticipated from a 'U/A' film, there can be a bold print declaration in all publicity material that will clearly call out 'Parental Guidance'. As per that the film can be suitable just for those over 15 years in age though it'd be the decision of fogeys to tag along younger ones. However if the latter does happen, Censor board do not have any objection to that."
Abhishek Pathak, who had an extended standing battle with Censors on his debut production Pyaar Ka Punchnama as well, confirms that he has accepted 'Parental Guidance' rating for Bittoo Boss. "THIS POSITIVELY works for the film. We now have always maintained that it may be seen by youth and mature audience and now it's upon elders to be answerable for that and bring the similar message", he says, "THAT IS indeed the most efficient case scenario."
The film releases everywhere next Friday at the occasion of Vaisakhi.
